ABC Landline and the Blackwood Basin Group

Landline Logo

Recently the ABC aired a story on its Landline program about the work being undertaken by the Blackwood Basin Group and Talison Lithium to turn old open cut pits into wetlands for rare and endangered bird life and native fish species.

GEO Media interactive (GMi) has been documenting the project over a few years now and was happy to help by providing vision to help tell the story. Congratulations to both the Blackwood Basin Group and Talison Lithium for the spectacular work done converting the area!

GMi working with the community.

As you probably already know GMi has been working closely with community groups to help spread the word of the fantastic conservation projects they work on. We here at GMi are pleased to welcome the Leschenault Catchment Council to the growing number of groups we assist here in Western Australia.

Quokka Forest

They join our conservation clients list which also includes the Australian branch of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the Department of Parks and Wildlife, and the Blackwood Basin Group (BBG). The BBG has just opened their latest conservation success to the public the creation of a wetlands haven at Schwenkes Dam.

This new wetland is part of the Priority Bittern and Waterbird Biodiversity Enhancement Project.

This has been and continues to be a fantastic project to work on and if you would like more information on this or any of the other projects we work on drop us a line here. Also keep an eye out on the ABCs’ Landline program, which will have a story about the BBG project (using of our vision) later this month.
