GMi working with the community.

As you probably already know GMi has been working closely with community groups to help spread the word of the fantastic conservation projects they work on. We here at GMi are pleased to welcome the Leschenault Catchment Council to the growing number of groups we assist here in Western Australia.

Quokka Forest

They join our conservation clients list which also includes the Australian branch of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the Department of Parks and Wildlife, and the Blackwood Basin Group (BBG). The BBG has just opened their latest conservation success to the public the creation of a wetlands haven at Schwenkes Dam.

This new wetland is part of the Priority Bittern and Waterbird Biodiversity Enhancement Project.

This has been and continues to be a fantastic project to work on and if you would like more information on this or any of the other projects we work on drop us a line here. Also keep an eye out on the ABCs’ Landline program, which will have a story about the BBG project (using of our vision) later this month.

You can find more information about the community groups and organizations we work with here:

GMi gets wise with the Water Corporation

The Water Corporation of Western Australia is about to launch a series online training packages based around businesses and households becoming Waterwise users. These packages were fully produced in-house here at GEO Media interactive (GMi) and contained video components, animations, interactive media and programming, as well as SCORM and LMS authoring and implementation.

Whats more the work we have been done has been submitted as an entry into a statewide award. More details on the award entry and packages will be made available in early 2016 when the training goes live! In the meantime check out the Water Corporation website and learn what it means to be Waterwise!

Gateway WA supports our AFL teams!

Lighting the way to the preliminary finals

Gateway WA supported WA AFL teams recently by lighting the Sky Ribbon panels of the Grand Gateway in the colours of the West Coast Eagles and Fremantle Dockers, for the AFL finals.

Motorists saw Dockers (purple and white) and Eagles (yellow and blue) lit panels line the way to and from Perth Airport, creating a memorable entry to and exit from the state as finals fever gripped the city.

The Sky Ribbon is an urban design feature of the project, made up of more than 220 aluminium panels that connect three bridge structures at the Grand Gateway interchange at Tonkin Highway / Leach Highway.

Check out a short video of the lights changing here!

Hosing Fire

Following on from the recent prescribed burning videos GMi produced for the Department of Parks and Wildlife (DPaW) and used by commercial stations in programs such as Today Tonight, the team here at GMi and DPaW are working together again.

Mark recently spent a week embedded with the DPaW fire fighting teams. Based in the Perth Hills Mundaring office, Mark filmed the teams as they responded to fires, but also captured the important work the teams do when there are no fires. It’s not just maintaining their vehicles and equipment, it’s work like feral pest reduction programs, the rehabilitation of fire affected areas, and building bridges in our national parks.

Congratulations Gateway WA!

We here at GMi would like to congratulate everyone involved on the Gateway WA project for recently hitting the halfway point milestone recently.  This is an important milestone for WA’s largest ever road project. As you can see from a few of the videos on the Gateway WA website the work is progressing nicely on the $1 billion project designed to improve the safety and efficiency of one of the state’s most important transport hubs.
